After enduring two impeachments, two general election challenges in a single cycle, nine years of relentless accusations and unfounded claims, years of weaponized institutions, 94 politically motivated charges, and even two assassination attempts on his life, Donald J. Trump achieved one of the most historic multicultural victories in US electoral history.
Hispanic Americans, Black Americans, Jewish Americans, Muslim Americans, Indian Americans, younger voters, union members, Democrat, Republican, and Independent moderates, all shifted towards the Republican Party, securing for Donald J. Trump the popular vote, the Electoral College vote, the US Senate, and the US House of Representatives.
Americans exercised their right secured by the courage of America’s forefathers, rooted in the democratic ideals of ancient Athens. This election day, Americans reminded elected officials that no elected, appointed, state, or federal employee has the authority to infringe upon the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans. They reminded them that the most important title in America is “citizen,” that America is a sovereign nation with borders that must be respected and protected and that America’s streets must be made safer. They reminded them that government must be smaller, more efficient, and fiscally responsible. They reminded them that America must unleash American energy for a strong economy and secure future. They reminded them that America’s adversaries should fear challenging America and its allies. They reminded them that for all of humanity we must continue to reach for Mars, the stars and beyond. They made it clear that those who seek the privilege and responsibility of representing Americans must always put America and Americans first.
As for Greece, the US election results will not alter the relationship between the United States and the Hellenic Republic. America’s core values and commitment to shared ideals – democracy, the rule of law, an informed citizenry, freedom of speech, justice, and the founding fathers’ respect for the democratic traditions of ancient Greece – make this bond unbreakable.
Americans said they’re ready for a change and said it loudly, clearly, and forcefully. The most challenging task now begins for the 45th and now 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, who will now face unprecedented challenges domestically and internationally in the next term.
