Προειδοποίηση προς τους Βρετανούς τουρίστες που θα επισκεφθούν την Ελλάδα για αυξημένα κρούσματα κορονοϊού στη χώρα απευθύνουν βρετανικά ΜΜΕ, μεταδίδοντας τα επιδημιολογικά δεδομένα του ΕΟΔΥ.
Οι εφημερίδες «Express» και «Mirror» κάνουν λόγο για «επείγουσα προειδοποίηση» προς τους Βρετανούς τουρίστες μετά από κρούσματα και θανάτους στην Ελλάδα από την παραλλαγή FLiRT του κορονοϊού.
Όπως αναφέρει η Daily Mail, «μεταξύ 8 και 14 Ιουλίου το σύστημα υγείας της Ελλάδας κατέγραψε 669 νέα κρούσματα Covid-19, που εισήχθησαν στο νοσοκομείο, γεγονός που αντιπροσωπεύει σημαντική αύξηση σε σύγκριση με τον μέσο όρο των 464 εβδομαδιαίων κρουσμάτων των προηγούμενων τεσσάρων εβδομάδων και τριπλάσιο του αντίστοιχου περσινού αριθμού».
Η Μάριαμ Μάλικ, γιατρός του NHS και ιδιωτική γιατρός στο Pall Mall Medical, δήλωσε ότι ο κορονοϊός μπορεί πλέον να εξαπλωθεί ευκολότερα. «Τα αυξημένα ταξίδια και οι μεγάλες εκδηλώσεις, όπως τα φεστιβάλ, οδηγούν συχνά σε συνθήκες συνωστισμού, όπου ο ιός μπορεί να εξαπλωθεί πιο εύκολα, και δεν υπάρχουν πλέον νομικοί περιορισμοί, όπως η χρήση μάσκας ή η κοινωνική αποστασιοποίηση» ανέφερε. Παράλληλα η Daily Mail παραθέτει δηλώσεις στο MEGA της προέδρου της ΕΙΝΑΠ Ματίνας Παγώνη.

Holidaymakers heading to Greece have been issued a stark warning as Covid cases surge due to the new FLiRT variant.
Over the last 20 days there has been a significant surge in infections reported by the Mediterranean country’s health authorities. Greece’s National Public Health Organization, EODY, has said hospital admissions shot up between July 8 and 14, with 669 new Covid patients receiving treatment.
The 44% increase in weekly admissions over the past month has led health officials to re-introduce some measures designed to stop the virus’s spread. Mask rules were brought back in at Metaxa Oncology Hospital in Piraeus – the port area of Athens – last week, while patients are now limited to two visitors each. Those who do come to the hospital must be tested for the virus.
Authorities are handing out free Covid tests across Greece this week. Health Stories has a full list of where they are available. Getting hold of the results is free for vaccinated citizens, but those who have not been jabbed will have to pay.
Yesterday the Greek health body, the Scientific Committee of the ISA, convened, with President Giorgios Patoulis noting a big rise in cases compared to this time last year. He warned that the holiday season was a particularly significant time due to the high numbers of people that’d be moving in and out of the country.
“Coronavirus is here and we must take protective measures both for ourselves and for our fellow citizens ,” he said, Zougla reported.
“In the next period of time, a greater increase in the spread of the virus is expected, due to the commuting and holiday synchronisation. Especially, the vulnerable groups of the population should show special care when using the Means of Transport or being in crowded areas.”
The latest epidemiological report from EODY reveals that 12 patients required ventilator support, including a child under nine. Tragically, 26 Covid-patients died in a single week this month.
The UK Health Safety Agency has listed the symptoms of COVID-19, flu and common respiratory infections for travellers to be aware of. There are currently no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travellers entering Greece.
